Honor Tough

Waking is a chore
Walking is a bore
Talking is beyond reason
Days of stinking seasons

When life just sucks

When time creates "buts"

That's when a man

Steps up

And gets tough

When the pay

doesn't equal the task

When the sorry

can't regain the past

When she says goodbye

When time seems to fly

When your lover

Takes another

When life just sucks

When time creates "buts"

That's when a man

Steps up

And gets tough

When your soul

Follows a dark path

And your virtue

Seems lost in a morass

When the demon

Sits so near

And the pires

Can't control the fear

When life just sucks

When time creates "buts"

That's when a man

Steps up

And gets tough

So enough!

Step right up

Get Tough!

Enough....

    Honour bound..

When honour calls, who steps up to the mark? when strength is required, who shows it? when determination and commitment to succeed is seen long before any batlefield is walked on? when courage is found in every breath. who breathes it?

Those who in the past have and do wear the badges of destinction. When motto's adorened are embedded deep within for life and followed to the last days. That is when courage is shown. and it has been shown in the words above.

A slightly different angle taken, but one closer to home. One which brings us closer to reality of todays world and the conflicts on every continent, some known, some not. When broadswords 'are' drawn and carried to battle, and those left behind are protected from afar.

You did well to produce a strong worded entry, and the flow and desire to finish it didn't lose its intensity. Simply, Well Done.

      John Wayne once said...

"Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway."

I wrote another tribute to the US Marines, in which I stated that they saddle up every day. Truly, Old John was right in making so many movies that are dedicated to the courage of the rare group of men and women who comprise the

      United States Marine Corps

    Awesome

That about sums it up. They need that toughness to survive, and us civ's could use a little of it, too. Life kicks us all around. I really like this poem, Chuck. It's nice to see you writing again.

I'll give you a call this weekend. Been working on the books a lot lately. Hoping to see one or both in the stores soon. I hope you're doing well, buddy.

    Mark

      Ty Mark

The Marine Corp is the most honor bound of all the services, but all services are honor bound. They typically, man for man, display the best of our nation, even when they are requried to do the worse to other nations. More then any childish ideas of honor, they are the broadsword of our country and that is easy to see in the swords worn by their officer corp.

I like! And your note at the bottom adds to the effect of it. It really inspires me, and pumps me up. I have a good freind who's in the marines right now, and this just makes me think about him.

Good flow and rhyme scheme. Pretty catchy. It good make a good song.
