"love"

she always used to say...
but no, it hurts to think
of the way her lips moved
how her eyes seemed to link

my soul to her true self
in a way I'd never seen,
and it hurts me to think
about what could have been

and that day was so brilliant,
sunlight falling through her hair,
dancing in the kitchen,
spraying gold everywhere

another surfaced memory,
a night under the moon
holding her through the pain,
so she'd never be alone

all the tears come now
what i spoke was true,
when she said she loved me
and I said "i love you too"

What did you think? I'm planning on entering this in a contest at my school so please give me advice!!

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!
