crows hold court
in solar stillness
along unicorn-horn branches
bones once broken, badly healed.
relentless wind-wolves
snapping dragging at haggard limbs
seasons of unending gales
Eucalypti ruthlessly morphed
into Dali trees.
the sky
has deceased
its lungs draw no breath
yet the trees remain bent
beneath the weight
of sunlight.
Author notes
The prompt was 'melancholy'.
