There is a creek behind my house
That sings siren calls out to the curious
Neighborhood children.
They know there are adventures to be had,
Dams to built and rock collections to be formed
As they stumble upon new revelations.
It was a summer of discovery,
Next summer won’t feel like this.
It will be more complicated.
The Hide-N-Seek games will disappear
And the never tiring game of tag
Will no longer be amusing.
The creek will be forgotten
And the rock collections with be discarded.
The children will forget the adventures.
