Hidden deep in the wellsprings of eternal knowledge and unconditional love lies a bitter truth so horrible, bizarre, shocking and brilliant that we spend a lifetime refusing to look at it, acknowledge it, or even admit it exists. We become jaded through facing impossible battles, endless injustice, unimaginable loss, and interminable disappointment until we realize the undeniable curse of mortality itself.
Only after having our identity repeatedly and brutally ripped from us through the unlimited pain of heartbreaking betrayal, devastating loss, maddening chaos and abject failure; only after we have finally given up on happiness completely and come to realize our lives will always be nothing but a series of tragedies and disappointments; only after we have been forced to walk the torturous path of despair to the wasteland of no pity, no fear and no hope can we finally turn our faces to the depths of the eternal waters, acknowledging the blinding brilliance, accepting the scorching truth from the light of pure understanding.
Then we can witness once and for all time, without the burden of human bias, the unimaginable, sublime beauty and perfection of sorrowful joy; experiencing a symbolic death of a selfish mind and the glorious birth of an enlightened thought. The simple, cryptic, blissful smile becomes a badge of spiritual triumph as one finally, completely, unreservedly assumes full responsibility and claims the totality of life's gifts through acceptance of the selfless, universally-healing, unabashed joy of empathy's bittersweet tears.

This is a beautiful prose poem. So much raw emotion and feelings, with great use of imagery and metaphors. This has to be a favorite. Good luck and great job!

Well said!

dear allan,
I had this poem of yours bookmarked for a little while now, so now it's time to comment on it ... I have just received a private message from one of my ap-sisters and feel that your words will be a soothing balm on her grieving heart ... I shall send her the link to this precious page, so your medicine may join my own to bring her strength and hope again ...
needless to say, that these words springing from your experience fully resonate within me ...
thank you for sharing them with us all,
maa

Well I know I am ignorant and for the most part spend endless amounts of time in total confusion due to a lifetime spent courting foolishness... reading this has made me feel so much better!!! Maybe I've been on the right track all along and just never realized anything good could come from the torment! Thanks Alan, I always knew I liked you!!!

Very Good!
What can one say. -
Wow
There's not really much else you can say to that really except that it's brilliant. Personally I think this is something that a lot of people could relate to especially if they're feeling down. I was actually hooked on this from the very line and I wanted to know where it was going it really pulled me in. Great work and good luck in the contest

Wow, I am 'blown' away lots of love and good luck

I think empathy is such an important quality a person can have...it is so hard to truly understand what another is feeling, this is thought provoking, to say the least.
An interesting piece of prose

When one has the unlimited understanding of true detachment, once can be free to be what destiny has appointed us to be and at the same time transcend the limitations of that destiny. We can reach the silent place of no words and live in truth, plus we can keep one foot on the world of words and experience all that being human has to offer. The answer is to look, look carefully, look deliberately, look completely and suspend judgment entirely so that you do not pervert the image. Then and only then can you see truth and overcome the burden of human bias.

Written from the depths of agony ...
but also from the everlasting joy beyond comprehension, I see in this write the brilliant diamond shimmering by cut; the gold poured from wrought by scorching pain ... And into the mold the purified soul, restored.
Wondrous work. Well done, Poet.
Love
Always Myra
