Athena, Unaware

She's so beautiful,

wrapped in her coat of many colours, many cultures.

Her soul is warmed by a thousand suns and

through travels greater men would tremble to undertake.

Her search for truth and knowledge

has brought her as much pain

as any saint has had to endure-

though a saint she is not, and would not wish to be.

Her search is not one of religious fervor,

but rather a search, a hope

for more than this pitiful place has had to offer her.

And so she returns, come full circle,

withought realizing her search has not yet ended.

The beauty of this world has always been inside of her

and now the seed has been sewn.

One dream is over and another's yet to begin.

Will you pass on your gifts of sight, imagination and grace?

Do we three - now four - still dance in circles

in the trees and under the moon,

exchanging energy with love?

Whatever your choice in this new soul quest,

your friends - oh so much more than friends -

will be there for you;

for you and Athena- the Goddess Unaware.

Author notes

For Alicia, who sometimes feels alone even when we are missing her so much. For Alicia who has been searching for the One True Power, when she has carried it with her always. And for Alicia, who now carries all these hopes and emotions inside of her simultaneously.

    She comes in colors everywhere,
    she combs her hair,
    she's like a rainbow.

...the beauty of this world has always been inside her.....

To get even one person in this funny old world to recognize the light that shines is a blessing beyond words lass...
so few beautiful souls are seen and loved in this hurried life.
So self consumed with ourselves, with our foibles and conquests that God himself can be beside us and we would never know...
Theses words were sprinkled with stardust and love...
The entire poem wrapped around my heart and drew me in.
    Great piece lass!

    Blessing little gypsy,
    Lowell Poe.

Much emotion comes through this heartfelt piece.
Love these lines: Her search is not one of religious fervor, but rather a search, a hope for more than this pitiful place has had to offer her.
And I think............wow, I sure can relate to this!

Thank you for reading and thank you for the amazing compliments. I think a lot of us have spent a lot of our lives looking for something or someplace better. My friend went all the way to Egypt to find it - and she did. In a gorgeous little girl with black curly hair and blue eyes.
      Thanks again,
      Rachele

      Thank You

I have a connection to the Goddess, and to Hecate mostly, that I never felt in all my years in church. This poem just . . . came out. Unseen inlfuences, eh? Or reverence overdue. Thank you for reading, for liking and for commenting. Those are hatricks that are quite lovely indeed. I shall be looking into your work, too, in the morning when my eyelids aren't playing tricks on me! I'm sure this was high praise from a kindred poet.
      Blessed Be,

    Impressive use of language.

You really do have a beautiful way of speaking to the reader through the written word on the page. If you haven't been published yet I think you should be.Impressive.

      On Athena, Unaware

Thank you so much for stopping to read. This woman is very much loved and she cried when she read it. It was the first time she realized how loved she was! At 26, one should know that at least one family member loves her. But she'll always have my husban and me. Thank you so much.
      Blessed Be,

Thank you for reading; I've been gone frrom AP for some time and my responses to my poetry have been . . . slow. I appreciate any and all reads but appreciation from you is high praise, indeed. Thank you.

What a captivating piece within it's tender love and care, how you admire this sweet soul, and you both are truly blessed to have each other to carry one another's burdens with love. A beautiful dedication, and I'm sure she'll cherish this for years to come. Peace, Timothy
