Pride in stride with death in sight

Pride.
I guess this means you're sorry?
And are taking back all you said before.

Said you would never come back,
Though here you are again.

Think back and remember how you got here.

A flashback to an instance of pure doubt and denial.

You got a choice this time!
Brand new breed of pills,
I know you have addictions
And this should stop the fight.
We've got choices today and ways to mend,
Blue pills, yellow, oval, round,
Octagons and crushed-and-ready;
Pills to keep your heavy heart steady.
Ones that will ease you,
Others to please.
Some to settle stomachs,
And others for whichever disease.
Can't concentrate? Too hurt to go on?
Mind wondering? Heart breaking?
Back aching? Eyesight fading?
Take two of these and call me in the morning.

It was just enough to get you through,
Another night of withdrawals from alcohol
Weeks went by, my stash evaporated
Sold out of every pill, every style, every flavor.

You took what you could afford, found what you needed more
To be the endless sea of failure, Lurking within your doors
You swallowed every bit of pride, you ever thought you owned.
Just to come back begging for more,
Of my methadone.

You took the Oxycontin, the methadone,
The Vicoden, codeine, xanex,
Then came in search of heroin, crack cocaine,
And dimethyltryptamine? This DMT?

No way in sight, I denied.
refused service to you anymore.
Then you came back, in search for more?
Nothing but more more and more?
Months passed and you were gone,
Faded out of sight
An overdose on what I started you on,
What I thought would get you by.

Author notes

DMT oxycontin are all drugs that a lot of people I know are doing, i just thought I would make this interesting... people get addicted far too fast to these drugs and it's horribly disappointing.

I agree. Manufactured bliss. Or sleep. Or a magic make me better pill.
    Well done, thank you.
