Cry Behind Me, Stranger

His teeth shined as he smiled at me,
His eyes looked blind,
but he could see.
His grin crept up to ear to ear,
His deadened eyes were void of tears.
Upon his head, upon his hair,
The rusted metal that lay there,
He screwed his temple with a nail,
His smile split, his cheek impaled.
He turned to me and stuttered so,
"I'm sorry, ma'am, I've got to go."
His legs'd move but he'd fall down,
It set my face into a frown,
And on his knees, he slouched down low,
"I'm sorry, ma'am, I've got to go..."
He choked it out and fell apart,
And shoved his key into the car.
The metal broke, and so did he,
His bright blue eyes stared straight through me.
I squinched my eyes and took a step,
He turned away and broke in half.
I dove infront and grabbed his heart,
Right before he fell apart,
I shoved it right back in his chest,
"I'm sorry, ma'am, it's for the best."
I shook my head and grabbed my heart,
I tore it out, part by part,
And kneeling on the ground again,
I held my heart to my new friend.
"Please take this, son, it's for the best,
I grabbed my heart right out my chest,
Don't kill yourself again tonight,
You have my heart, so we'd both die."
