Never Ending Serenade

Can you feel it?
The drum beat of my heart
racing faster and faster
as the world turns.

No you can't
I've muted the sound
Protecting the lover
from wreckless debris.

Chorus:
But the song keeps singing
There's no end to the lyrics
The music keeps on playing
Deep inside
I'll give you notes
when the time is right
Right now it's hidden
so I can attempt sleep tonight.

The stars lie
And so will I
The light an illusion
my feelings dimmed

I'll be whatever you need
A friend, foe, or lover
Just don't leave
Keep me in your heart.

Bridge:
It's a never ending serenade
Symphony brought through a decrescendo
due to the conductor's cue
My heart waits in anticipation
For the flip of the baton
and crescendo to forte
or simply end the song
once and for all
to start a new one.
