Every morning I wake up
to a silent and dark world.
Slowly lights flick on inside rooms
and the noise level rises
the world's natural crescendo.
The sun rises whether we can
see it or not,
and when we can it's beautiful
hues of purple, red, yellow, and orange
painted across the sky.
I get ready for the day
watching the world transform.
Time flies by and I'm at school.
Walking down the hallway
my teacher's aide class spots me,
rushing over showering me with hugs.
My friend and I bump into a door
laughing at our stupidity,
and coming up with silly things
that no one understands.
Later at the store running some errands
with my mom I see a little boy
running up and down the aisles
bringing canned food to his mom,
who keeps telling him to put it back,
we don't need that today.
Dinner is placed on the table
thoughts are consumed in homework.
I get excited over using a purple pen
to mark up my book for the test tomorrow.
The colors of the day are fading away.
Evantually the world fades back
to it's monochrome beauty
that I fall to sleep too
and wake up too
everyday.
The best gifts in life are the ones
that don't require money, or planned out things.
The best gifts are the simple ones
that come for free and are unplanned
making life beautiful.
But that's only if you choose to see them.

this is so sweet...it's impressive that a 15 year old can see things through such wise eyes when others have failed...impressive write full of wisdom...maybe we have become too cynical to appreciate the mundane things in this life..but I do like this..wonderful job..thoughtful/provoking

Simply beautiful Jade. I try hard to find things to make me happy too. I help out at an old age home for the elderly and this gives me the happiness of giving.

Awe this is very beautiful I really like this. It made me smile. Jade this is so wonderful and touching. :] such sweet kind and gentle words. Friends are the best gift you can ever have.
