Lamantation

LAMANTATION

You can have your dole
But where is my gold?
You can have your Saul
Where is my soul?

What about your Jesus
Why couldn’t he save us?
Mothers of harlots
Why did you deceive us?

You can have our father
Where is my brother?
Hey you mister
Where is my sister?
Remove your tether
Take us back to MAMA
Take us back to MAMA
MAMA AFRICA!!

You can have your gun
Where is my land?
Take your bomb!
Give me back my song
How long?
By the rivers of Babylon.

No Co emission polluting our land
The only pollution was you and your and your band

Now you preaching greenery
After you destroy my scenery!

You can have your AIDS
Back to my hunting days

When my only fear
Was what not to wear.

You can have your car
Now my journey is far

Now my journey is far can I get on your bus?
But can I sit in the front without a fuss?

You can have your car
Now my journey is far
But can I get on your train
Without the chain?

You can have your car
Now my journey is far
Now my journey is far can I get on your ship?
Can I get on your ship
Without the crack of the whip?
Without the crack of the whip, without the crack, the crack, the crack of the whip?

The way you've repeated this makes it haunting and sticks with you.
Can you please put what option you used in your notes?
    Thanks for your entry.

reminds me of 'Dole Age' by Talisman...it has a conscious toast over a dub reggae rhythm---where repetition is key!

  • An interesting and very sad write on the history of a people. I found this somewhat repetitive in places, that didn't seem to add to the intense feelings you evoked here. The rhyme seemed forced also.
But a very thought provoking piece indeed.
    Thank you for your entry.
Could you please let us know which option you used?
