When you see a pigeon fly
Or walk upon the street
Make note it's more than just a bird
And you it's come to greet
For messages it carries
Within it's sharp clawed feet
Far and wide it flies toward you
Alone or in a fleet
Bringing you a message
You'll find quite hard to beat
So if you sit upon a bench
Quite shaded from the heat
You just might see a pigeon
From where you take your seat
Ask it for it's message
For you it's come to meet
Pigeons fly for freedom
Through wind or snow or sleet
Recall that it's not just a bird
But flier most elite

This little poem is part of a story involving my son, in prison for a crime he did not commit.

I shall look at a pigeon differently from now on. Enjoyed your poem but sad about the inspiration. Hope it all comes right for him
