7 Ways to Make a Wish

1.  Shooting stars
Bright eyes.
Winking in and out of existence.
Streaking across a darkened sky, spiraling toward earth
with wishes blazing behind.

2. Wishing wells
Pennies gleam amid rippled reflections.
Chump change,
from pocket bottoms and
miniature speaking mouths.
Hold your dream close to your breast
Let it take the plunge
Give in to chance.

3. Paper Cranes
Creation. Transformation. One
wish from a hundred. How far they fly
on papered pinions.

4. Dandelions
Tiny umbrellas. Pudgy
hands hold tight to slender stems. I felt your
cool breath propel me heavenward, giving
fragile dreams a chance at flight.

5. Birthday candles
Wishes change,
into grander things than ponies and trains.
We all grow older, hope to live longer
Leaving footprints among many in the sand
Cannot it be said that we all are candles?
Burning wicks with strong beating hearts?
Now, close tight your eyes
against the wavering light of every flame

6. Catch an eyelash
A black crescent. Balanced
on the edge of a bright blue eye. Butterfly
kisses. The last image I saw was your hand reaching
for me, before you gently sent me toward the sky.

7. Tunnels
Pinpoints of light.
Starting smaller, growing larger.
Breathe in deep.
Stories hidden far within the lungs,
clasping tight to remembrance
hoping to not forget as you travel through.

Author notes

I am a dreamer and often wish on stars and blow away dandelion fluff. When I write I like to leave alot of the interpretation to the reader. Also I tend to write in fragments without realizing it, but there is always room for improvement.

I like the imagery you use here. It read a little like prose (to me anyway) at times, but I like the idea and feel.
