Her weeping eyes, allowed to dry
At once, and now forever kind
She's seen she's not alone in love
The words imprinted on her mind
And with her worries gone away
She smells the hope she lost to gray
Its flowers, in the wind she sees
And follows their rainbow-colored sway
She wanders far, it's getting dark
She starts to scare, but hears a harp
A lonesome, wistful, lullaby
Soft, sad notes, with edges sharp
The pain is evidently there
Plucks the song, his soul is bare
He glances upward, longs for touch
She obliges, overcome with care
And in the twilight, they lay down
She tells of love, not lost, but found
And passes on words imprinted
Then lets silence overtake the sound
Morning wakes her, and in her ear
A song of beauty, love, and cheer
She hears his fingers on the harp
And finally lets go of all her fear
He does only what he knows
Plucks his heart out in the grove
But on this day it's in her honor
For she kept not, but chose to show
Author notes
I wrote this for a friend of a friend who made a nice comment about my poem "Imprint". For some reason her comment inspired me and I told her I would write a poem "In Her Honor"
Please comment on anything, I'd love to hear it! Good or bad.
