I wanted to tell you so bad
why didn't I?
you had my heart, my soul
and the things you did to my body
I was your piano
you played each and every key so perfectly
always finding just the right notes
us
together a beautiful crescendo of song
but it was never really me you were thinking of
she was always in the back of your mind
I didn't understand
she left you
broke your heart
I've always been here
to pick up the pieces
and listen while you talked about her
watched as you drove away that night
you never knew
I wanted to run after you
my mind screamed, "tell him!"
feet would not move
lips never spoke
my heart cried, "I love you"
but you never heard

Well written and could see this all going down...nice thoughts of being played like a piano, and the thought of the if onlys. Blessings.

Aw, this is sweet. I love how you used the piano as a metaphor too. Thanks for entering my contest.
