And as each year begins -
to Rabbie Burns we raise our din !
as reverent voices wish health and goodness
thank poet’s pen for this gift to us –
“should auld acquaintance be forgot”
assuredly forget him not -
from pages whet with ink and purpose
dear Rabbie’s memory live on within us !
still the highland call rings clear and proud
and steads his legacy strong and loud
and fitting are this poet’s fancy
in this new era bereft of Clancy -
beyond this time his genius boast
a message fitting coast to coast
from North Sea shore to Scotland’s west -
may his soul bear peace; an’ his words ne’er rest !
a tribute to the late poet
Robert Burns,
Ayshire Scotland : Jan 25th, 1759 – July 21st, 1796

here's to the Scots way with words; their passion; intensity and formidable strength in other arenas as well...
