One fish, no fish. My boat!

Count the days and count the ways,
I never got to directly say "hey".
Illuminating without doubt,
A memory of haunted trout.
Whilst fishing once upon a day;
Early in the morn,
I came across a silky fin
Sitting in a boat
He jumped for joy and said "oh boy!"
I asked him why the fuss.
Then this fella, tinted yella
Came to me to say
" I found a friend to share with me,
This lovely pitcher of iced tea!"
Well how could I resist?
So I jumped below to his river boat,
And off the shores we sailed.
Moments pass and I did notice,
Something quite misplaced.
This little guy, had a fish hook.
Placed upon his face!
Then I came to see it's truth,
My accident I could claim,
I stabbed the fella made of yella
In his little chin.
Took him home and stuffed him thin,
And kept his river boat.
