where shadows dwell

deep inside where shadows dwell
lie secrets that I cannot tell
a thought that always haunts my mind
sending chills straight down my spine.

where the icy hands control
what once was mine that you have stole
and left the fear that I now smell
deep inside where shadows dwell

I've crawled upon my waiting grave
with all the temptations that you gave
I've lost my mind, I've lost my soul
where the icy hands control

and left to wait in bitter darkness
to feel the hands of death's caress
the cause is lost, no more to save
I've crawled upon my waiting grave

so here I sit in my darkness alone
sheltered in this tomb-like home
and deep inside where shadows dwell
lie secrets that I'll never tell

In a list

Please tell me what you think

A secret that cannot be kept
Is such as I have never wept
For secrets come and then they go
With my grave, truth be told

For whence a secret holds the key
    To life's dreams and reality
The power to hold within its grasp
The deathly sting of Satan's asp

And so, I too, have come to say
    Secrets shall have their say
For mine will sing in the end
Straight to hell my soul to send

But this I know of your soul
To hell it will never go
For deepest in your darling heart
The purest vein will never part

That vein I've seen (this you know)
    Purest love of solid gold
So do not fear of your fate
Your soul shall see the pearly gate

I like the way you constructed this piece. You do well with rhyme, and the couple of repeated refrains, only give your piece a wreathed effect, that I like. Emotionally, this spoke loudly to me. I can very much relate to the content. I too, will die with secrets unspoken. I hope to read more of your work soon. This is well done.

    • Thank you. Unfortunately, I have been plagued with some of the worst luck and life around lately. I think we all have secrets we will carry, just some more deep than others.

I would love to check out some of your writing. I hear much about you, as Storm speaks highly of you. Glad to meet you.
