She Drags The Blade

A woman wanders the streets
Bundled for the cold
With a face of equal weather
And wields a sword
With a  black and blue hilt
Each day she meanders
Through alleys and roads
Dragging her blade on the ground
Listening to varied surfaces
Grind against the blade
She balances on railings
And skids the sword carelessly
To view the sparks of light
Her eyes flicker of exhaustion
She waits day and night
Dragging her blade endlessly
For her relief to end her rounds

She roamed to the same alleyway one day
And then stopped
The silence of her blade
was deafening to her ears
She sat down on a platform
Passing the hilt from one hand
to the other
She stared into her void
She questioned in her thoughts
If she would ever stop
This mundane routine
A warm touch flushed her cheek
Her tired face leaned into the hand
Of a man her listless eyes couldn't see
She tried to stand and fell
Into his soft arms
She released her sword to the ground
As he gently lifted her tired body
She never said a word
As he carried her away
She fell asleep serenely
Abandoning her world with the blade
