Darkness had slowly descended
The moon’s eye opened voluminous
Stars glistened from above
As water smashed the riverbank
Hand in hand they walked the shore
Gazing, one upon the other
While water menacingly rolled in
Removing all trace of their prints
Love has never been more defined
Amidst such a perfect night
A tall, dark, stranger approached
Demanding all that they had
With eyes blazing denial
Hunter refused all but his wallet
While firmly gripping his pocket
But knowing his time would soon be up
As signified by Coast Guard horns
The stranger released a trigger
Slowly Hunter fell by the shore
A smile still graced his lips
And his hand held firmly to his pocket
As he fell, a diamond engagement ring
Gently rolled out of his pocket
Though breathing his last breath
He placed the ring on her finger
But death came knocking
Before he could pop the question
Tears stained her pallid cheeks
As she cried, “Goodbye my love”
And holding the ring skyward
“Yes, I will, I will”, she screamed
Hoping he could hear her answer
Before he was taken from her forever
