Wandering Mind

The answer is hidden from view
He was all she had,
His smile, his laugh
And a rare love known by few.

Her eyes twinkled when she spoke of Billy
"He has vascular dementia..
they say it is going to get worse before it gets better.
I shouldn't cry I know people think I am being silly."

Her tales became sadder and more often
She never gave up hope
And said all she did was laugh
Hoping the despair would soften.

Forty years, forty years done
No more years to be added
He died on Wednesday
A new life has now begun.

Is the rhyming horrendous

The rhyming could not ever be horrendous because of the subject matter. A sad description of such a beautiful person does not lend itself to harsh judgment. "Her tales became sadder and more often
    She never gave up hope"
I love these lines. It is so hard to watch someone you care about go through a loss like this. People like this are an inspiration to us all. I wish her the best.
