Just two friends relaxing
Chasing's much too taxing
Her habbits make me groan
But at least I'm not alone
Cleans her claws out on my bed
That messes with my head
Eats my food for a snack
I can always get her back
There is a price to pay
For his company each day
Doggy slobber in my dish
Sometimes makes me wish
I was an only pet
Well cossetted, and yet
I've grown accustomed to his face
Sometimes a disgrace
After foraging in grass
I can't tell it from his ass
We get on very well
And it's easy to tell
As relationships go
both of us do know
To lead our gentle lives
Animosity's put aside
For warfare we are loath
Just couch potatoes both.

You have me smiling as I recall my cat and dog each knew the cat was king ..offerings of food were always left in payment. The lines flow with ease of the rhyme ..this is just a very pleasant poem to read, uplifting with a warm fuzzy feeling.
I like the way you wrote from both dog and cat. Thank you so much for the pleasure. Good luck in the contest. Great take on the prompt ...brilliant.
