The toys were all scattered across the girl’s floor
And she sat on her bed and was crying
Cradled in arm was her small fluffy bear
And she wept cause her fluffy was dying
Her mother walked in and she spoke to the child
And the girl looked up at her in sorrow
She said 'mummy dear, I’m afraid to let go
Cause I know I won’t have him tomorrow'
Her mother sat down and she cradled her close
As she looked in the eyes of her daughter
The pretty brown eyes that were saddened but wise
As she hugged the small bear that she bought her
And the songs of the angels came calling to her
As she dreamed of her teddy that day
And fluffy he waits as the years roll by
His life had been taken away

Superb
'tis a very fine sentimental write, in the best sense of the term. You have expressed yourself quite well. Thanks for sharing. -

Simply outstanding
Right to the heart of life and love,
The greater the love perhaps in time comes
the great pain of sadness with the loss of that
love on earth. the truth to me condor is that love
remains, it just changes. the loved one lives on
in your every breath. Loved your poem

The rhyme rhythm and flow in this is excellent. It is also such a sad heartbreaking story, gave me a lump in my throat.

I have all mine in a large box, and even though I never look at them, I can't bear to part with them--and I'm not a pack rat with anything else! This also reminded me of the velveteen rabbit. Sad that the bear was "dying."

Thank you so much. Yeah, I loved teddy bears to, but I ended up with so many, I ended up giving them to a kindergarten for the kids. Now I collect money....lol!!!!!!!! A good hobby!

This reminded me so much of "The Velveteen Rabbit!" I was an avid collector of stuffed toys as a child. Every Easter, Valentine's, Christmas, you name it, there was always one added. My bed was their home, and I slept with the lot of them. A few years back, four or so, I finally found the courage to give the bulk of them away to children who I knew would appreciate them as much as I had. I did fail to part with a few that were too sentimental to me to give away.
I find it a little strange that I just happened upon this at this very moment, too, because each of them just got a much deserved bathing in the sink thanks to my need to have a pre-spring cleaning fest.
This is a wonderful, somber salute to childhood and everything it encompasses. To be that age again!
Thanks for sharing,
Brit

Thank you. I love your story, and like you, I had to give my to a kindergarten because I collected too many. I'm 52 now, so I think kids enjoy them more.

Thanks, mate. I am so glad you liked this one. You know, in our truck at work, we have teddy all along the dash. We couldn't part with them and they are only small one. Strange how humans can get attached to something, isn't it?
