"Old Photo"~January 22, 2009

fascination...

fondness...

blues and burnt orange
on a mixed leaf print button-down
above it the smile adored-
beset by sparkling eyes
with aconite depth.

sounds and vibrations
that emitted the very first
language a child would learn.

curved dark brows
and tousled hair-
that would be played with
and tugged. rough,
shaved cheeks
that would be traced-
each dimpled line
a child's finger trap.

songs remembered
for years to come-
a first tricycle
the acoustic thrum
from a peace-loving heart.
