He hides down in the ground,
once a year he might be found.
While we shiver in the snow,
he warmly slumbers down below.
The humans pray for early spring,
flowers growing and the birds sing.
Maybe I'll just stay in bed,
instead of sticking out my little head.
That big dark thing that looks like me,
might be waiting up there for me to see!
It has never said "hello"
just stares and frights me so.
Humans never seem to like,
when I see that awful sight.
They cheer than shed their fur,
yelling, "Thank-you, Ground Hog Sir!"
Author notes
I sure hope that mean old shadow is not there!

Wonderful Poem
You have captured what Gound Hog Day is all about. A great take on seeing his shadow. I guess it is a scary day for him with all the cameras and people around watching. I enjoyed this so much. Nice rhyme and flow. Thank you for entering my contest and best of luck. Take care. Sandy
