A Flag Of Pride

in red and white they waved

standing strong against the wind;

against the tides of times of old,

our stars and stripes stood tall;

a little bit brighter, a little bit prouder;

illuminating skies of grey

and faces reflecting hope;

shoulder to shoulder, touching

swaying in victory, in unity

silent tears in eyes of young;

quiet prayers sent up to the heavens,

from hearts of old that still remembered;

I became you, and you became me;

on this day of one man's dream,

united as one nation, one people;

and one flag reclaimed it's pride

    Thanks :)

    Reenie,
    I worked on Obama's campaign, and then I went to his inauguration. It was all an awesome culmination of events from April (when I finally signed on) to just last month. And, this piece sums it all up so well. Very good job.
    Change has come.

      dear sweet Ash or @sh [as you used to spell it]

      It has ben ages that I have had any inspiration or even signed on here, so it is not until just now that I found this comment from you....OMG, remember way back when , I always said you were going to be going places....and this says it all. What an honor to have attended the inauguration of this historical event. How far you have come...it seems as if it was only yesterday that you were but a mere young girl that got butterflies in her stomach at the thought of leaving for college. I do not know you personally of course [but I am sooooooooo proud of you] Until my Muse returns, I probably still won't be on here much but would love hearing from you now and then....maybe occasionally you can find the time to send me a short e-mail . My addy is jourdusoleil@msn.com. Please just write your name and AllPoetry in subject line , so it does not go to junk mail [have a pretty strong filter on]
      Keep up the good work, and much love always,
      Reenie

    are we not always happier when the right person wins. As a nation we now know that right doesn't take might but a willingess to stand for what you believe. We see that government is about us and we make it what we want. Change has finally come and the White House is a rainbow house now.
    Love, Tom B.

      thank you

      love to think of it as a "rainbow house now". It feels so good to have seen that ALL stood up, spoke out, ONE nation really did become just that.
      much love
