A Brave Israeli Soldier's Meditation

For so many mornings I have woken up with joy in my heart,
Looking forward to a happy-happy day ahead;
Not many people have a job which pays goddam well
And which gives them exquisite endless pleasure;
For the past three weeks I have revelled in my daily tasks
Of hurting, bullying and ill-treating innocent people.
And what's more I earn the gratitude of family and friends
All of whom respect me for my intense patriotism
And brutal bravery in the face of my victims' terror.

What is my job? Surely you can guess? Go on, have a try!
I think you probably worked it out, you clever little goy.
Yes, yes, yes, I am a soldier in the Israeli Army
And be assured that all the illegal settlers back home
Can rest easy because of me and my loyal comrades,
As we march fearlessly through the slums of Gaza City
Shooting indiscriminately at any child stupid enough
To poke his unwashed face from a bombed out building.

But now I am sad as my cowardly government have pulled me back,
(And my brave comrades in blood-letting too, oy oy);
And it's all that Barack Obama's fault as he's likely
To side with the fucking Palestinians for a few weeks.
Never mind, when the euphoria wears off, we'll be back.
So watch out, towelheads, the brave Israeli boys are coming
And this time we'll crap all over your mosques again.

    never mind

I see from your writing that you choose to waste what talent God has given you. You're obviously beneath me and your writings are not worthy of my time.

This was very silly indeed! I enjoyed the irony you have here and am appalled so many took this negatively. Poetry is supposed to be read as-is, not analyzed through bias. Geez people, I thought it was awesome. Reminds me of Edna and Barry, and that is a very good thing. Excellent write and good luck in my contest.

i liked your sarcasm, though dont agree with you that obama wanted the massacre to stop. he seemed fine with the brutality, as long as it safeguards the american rich and elite's interest. as usual.

Not very good poetry, but the ironic and sarcastic messages are spot on! Bravissimo! Watch out for the hate messages from the Israelis and their fascist mates, though.

    THANK YOU.
I completely side with you on this one. It's terrible, especially the real cause, which kind of sickens me. You see all these poor trembling children on the TV just hurt, afraid and wanting their families back. It makes me wonder hat the world has come to.

    Yes, its sad to see
    the vibrant arteries
    of Isreal become very much
    hardened,
    quickened by fear and hate
    like the slum killers
of an age old world war
    lashing out like Rommel
    and hiding behind bannered facades

    peace is the only way

Well, this is just awesome, I mean if it was mine, I couldn't probably add anything else.
Thank God that some people are finally saying the truth.
    Thanks.

Political and Religious Mud throwing only incites more hatred...The media is the best publicity for the cause...The real truth God knows. Some know the madness of men's minds to twist the truth for sympathy no matter what the loss of lives...
I am on the side of the truth, and Gods' word..His land was given years ago to a people that are being
driven to the sea by their enemies...I stand up for them! I hate no one, but I stand up for the truth!

Reads like Edna entering his own contest.

No mention here of Hamas lobbing missiles helter skelter into Israeli homes and schools. My heart pumps peanut butter for the Palestinian cause. Maybe the downtrodden masses will overthrow the imbeciles passing for leadership over there... oh, that's right, Israeli missiles sent the bulk of them to hell already... well, maybe that will make it easier for the downtrodden to form a coups. As long as there are militants in Palestinian leadership positions, Israel is going to have to keep the fly swatter handy. GO ZIONISTS, YEAH!!!

You really are a most unpleasant creep. I sincerely wish you would go and get knotted. Although your staggering ignorance and illiteracy are a source of non-ending joy. When you get hanged, please send me an invitation. Front row please. PS> Are you fat and ugly?

Ha! Unpleasant! Yeah, I realize my views are more likely to get me hung than people on the opposite side of the aisle with opposite views. But, I'll risk the sacrifice to voice my opposition against libelous stupidity such as your poem here.

      Hamas wasn't pumping any missiles.

Israel broke the treaty in November. Piss off with your lies.

Well, well... Larry the Lunatic! Long time no see!

You know, it is so easy for normal people to see who the guilty party is here. Israel, with American help, has the capability to do whatever it wants with Gaza and the West Bank whenever it wants to do it. If they want to exterminate Palestinians in both territories, they've got the firepower to do it, up to and including a nuclear arsenal.

Hamas and Hezbollah, on the other hand, only have enough matches to burn their own fingers. So they pack bombs on the backs of their children (the ones Professor Klosett says are being euthanised in a humanitarian fashion by the Israeli soldiers) and try to extract nickle and dime casualties from the Israeli citizenry.

How you ever came to divorce common sense so forcefully and so completely baffles all of us here at A.P., but I hope in the best interests of the world at large that you open your eyes, and start consuming news from sources other than the poisonous well from which you're currently feeding.

I and many others have placed you on my "ignore" list and I shall send a message to the author to suggest he should do the same. It's the only way to block your nasty comments.

            How to deal with EarthToJim

Put him on your "ignore" list. It seems to block out prejudice and hatred quite well.
