The mirror reflects a deeper truth behind eyes that now age.
The stare is not so steady, not so self assured.
Where jokes once wrinkled the brow now lines show cares in every smile.
Humor remains of course, buried in a shallow grave,
to be dug up when tensions loose and laughter is being served.
The mirror reflects an older man behind eyes that hint of youth,
that dream of youth, remember youth, and wasted youth.
Mid life reflection shows many roads on a map never used,
just brought along on an aimless journeyto lend illusion
of willfully navigating through the perils of love and life.
Grace is a foreign word, but one that can be learned if wished.
I am half way home, yet I know not where I have travelled.
I have experienced many wonderous sites on my journey,
have collected many treasures and lost many battles,
but still I have not created a path of my own.
The golden sunrise approaches, I will face it with hope.
Hope that I live long enough to feel I accomplished,
Hope that my kin live well and long, and love and learn.
I will face the golden sunrise and I will welcome it.
Please tell me what you think

Wonderful.
Loved the way the fact that even if life could have been different, it doesn't feel like there are any regrets even if there were some. One day we all hope to look in that mirror and actually see what it reflects when we get old and gray.
