Moving out of bed,
she slips into her clothes;
nothing more than denim jeans,
and a tee shirt that's faded.
Walking around her socks are stained,
she finds her shoes,
the last few years,
they've been the same.
Old and dirty,
faded canvas she wears,
of chuck taylor converses,
she slips on a pair.
Once being the brightest
purple you've ever seen;
fading into near colorless,
from running home to clean.
She can not afford new ones,
for she's a poor as they get.
She was lucky to get these last christmas,
for they was all she could get.
Everyday she puts them on,
not to complain;
loving every day she wears them,
walking to keep her sain.
She dreams ove new ones,
this time a neon green.
For those will not be faded,
and far easier to clean.
She walks swiftly,
making sure that she gets home;
take them off and putting them up,
until she collapses for tomorrow.
Author notes
