Sam

light blue-gray t-shirts
two lip rings and i wonder
who's skeletons are in your closet
and what monster hide themselves under your bed.
and our differences set us apart--
you're still tapping ashes off the end of a midnight cigarette.
but the scoreboards on our wrists bring us closer together.
maybe it's because i know where you're coming from,
i know what it's like for anger to uncontrollably boil in your blood
and what it's like to give up completely.
music notes and lightning bolts
you look familiar, you know?
i've seen you before,
and i know your type.
even though i shouldn't say that.
and she broke up with him on sunday,
she tastes like lavender, you know?
and you hope for her
like how i hope for you
and you pray she'll find a path to you
sticking stickers all the way,
threatening to be politically correct
but there's a time to face it head on.
and maybe you do love her.
but maybe you'll never know.
and maybe i'll never know.
and maybe we can be happy like this.

but the scoreboards on our wrists bring us closer together.

-that was just awesome. imagery overload

and what it's like to give up completely.

    -i nearly cried

and she broke up with him on sunday,
she tastes like lavender, you know?

-that is what I call pretty wording.

    completely breathtakingly beautiful.

    chin up,

i love when you say "and i wonder whose skeletons are in your closet" and "you look familiar...i know you're type"

im not sure where "and she broke up with him on sunday" comes from. it seems like it was dropped in there, unless there is a link to it that i am missing?

    good write.

    Amazing.

This poem really stands out. I'm not just typing this. I can really feel the truth stand out of it, and I feel like I can relate to the 'maybe you'll fall in love with her, but not me even though I like you' part. The imagery is fantastic. It painted a vivid picture in my mind. And it's in the empty spaces, the what you didn't say that really took my breath away and made it hard to comment.

Wow. It's interesting how you can feel like you know someone because you are in the same situation. If you can relate to them because of past events that you have been through or current situations that you're in. I like it a lot. It's very observent and descriptive.
