For God created you,

Our God who loves us, created the big blue sky, the great sun, and moon. And all the stars and clouds in the sky.

He created the green grass, and all the flowers.

The enormous trees, the gentle ocean.

He created the birds in the sky and the ants on the ground.

He created all the creatures of the earth, including people, like you and me. He created all of us individually, with love. Each of us knitted perfectly in our mother’s womb. He created as all equal.

God created joy and happiness, friendship and respect. Most importantly He created love so He could love us and we could love Him and each other.

God gave us free will, without free will there is no love.

God gave us important jobs to do, like looking after all His creation, and helping our mums and dads. God gave us imagination and dreams so we would always be creative and eager to do His will.

God gave us rules and laws to follow, so we could live in peace with each other.

God made us different and unique, so we would never be bored!

God gave us plenty of food and water, so we could survive and share together.

God gave us eyes to see His beautiful world, and ears to hear the sounds of the Earth! He gave us our bodies so we could live each day to the fullest. He gave us our minds so we could solve problems, and for us to keep learning each day.

Sometimes bad things can happen, but always know God loves you and He always knows what’s best for us.

God gave us hope and faith, so no matter what we would know we could depend on God’s love of us.

All these gifts and many more come free to us and all we have to do is love Him back!

Author notes

The age group I was aiming for was 8-10 year olds, and even beyond I suppose.

When I was growing up I had a poem like this but about little girls, and even very young I loved it, and as I became older I understood more and more of it.

So whatever your beliefs, we are equals, and I think that is an important message we should be passing on to the next generation.

God bless you.
Thanks for this contest.

  • You are wise beyond your years. The essence of the good life is a life of love. This is a good write. It is more prose than poetry, but I like it anyway.

I think this is a very excellent write, and despite the fact that it is aimed at a younger audience I think it would also be appropriate for anyone who is just beginning to understand their faith, regardless of age. Very good write, Good luck in this contest

Aww I love this one, it's absolutely wonderful Though written for children, it's sooooo true, so that it can also be enjoyed by an adult if they were to read it, such as an 18 year old like myself ^^ Well done, good luck in the contest
