A day has been written in each and every book
Before the day is even done
The land of the free, home of the brave
Is lead by a leader of a different hue.
A majority lead by the minority
Who sees no color in people's skins
Was sworn in based on his character
And was elected as a beacon of hope
As an inspiration of aspiration
For all the children of the land.
Two months ago he promised change
We will see if it rings true
My only wish is that he can bring together
Those who see only two colors: red and blue.
A text message was sent
To define the monumentous moment
Its said very few words
But spoke an entire tome of triumph and jubilie
It read:
"Rosa sat so that Martin could walk. Martin walked so that Barack could fly."
But within those words another message was said
That the immortalized dream came true
A man of color was elected for his character, not for his hue.
Author notes
Inspired by both the text message quoted, and the inaguration of President Obama
