The Everlasting Debate

Laying awake past midnight,
where dusk and dawn make haste,
opening up the battlegrounds,
for the everlasting debate.
Pulled too taut my heartstrings,
could love and like collide?
Dormant memories dusted off,
after such long time and tide.

Hold me close my judgment,
am I really going back there?
Do not desert me common sense,
can't I like, not love but care.
Hard times near us heartstrings,
and harsher winds will gale
But I can bet my very soul,
we will survive, and will prevail.

Love me closely Daniel,
repress my heartstrings ache,
your suspicion right, my choice is made,
in the everlasting debate.
But I won't go there Daniel,
we fought a bloody war,
in your arms I'll ever lay,
my senses at ease once more.

Please tell me what you think
