broken home

there was a time not so long ago
when our hearts beat as one
and your words meant something
the love flowed and embraced

there was a time once
when the look in your eyes glowed
and the touch of your hand
sent shivers down my spine right to my heart

love words whispered in the night
brought tears to my eyes of joy
and each stroke of passion
drew us closer towards happiness

now these days i watch you hide
pretend and lie to me
no remorse or regret
the love has faded and i have lost

your passion flares now only in temper
and the smell of her on your clothes
sickness me but still i smile and nod
welcoming the hurt over again and again

shamelessly i wait for the ending
not understand or knowing why
was it me did i do something wrong
have i failed us in some way

you speak of the weather
like i'm a stranger you lay beside each nigh
the wall come up and i am alone once again
forever confused to the reason

show me the moment i fell in your eyes
that the love inside you died
and you stop seeing anything but her
a nameless face i can not hate or know

did the shame of the woman i am
grow to strong and tear away the emotions
am i not still the person you held in your arms
bore a child with and married

when will the words come
will you walk away as if i never existed
or have i still a place within your memory
buried so deep it no-longer shows

forgive me but i will not cry
for i have lost to much
my self respected and confidences
disappeared like smoke

goodbyes are only words
they hold no meaning
and shattered hearts make no sound
as they break
