hebitsukai

serpentine trees,
wrapped in the gauze of green
boughs tongues of split leaves
amidst grey storm clouds
zig-zagging platinum snakes
using the  trees
as rods of asclepius

Author notes

Prompt: "What Color Are You."

Hebitsukai is Japanese for Snake Charmer.

The Rod of Asclepius is a universal symbol of healing consisting of one snake wrapped around a staff. It was originally confused with the caduceus--the caduceus being thought to be a symbol of healing, when in fact it was a symbol of thieves etc. The association of the caduceus with healing has become so ingrained that it's now taken on that meaning just as well.
