Eyes closed, mind open,
against the grass under the starlight;
a breeze catches my hair,
and I am brought back to happiness.
Thickest trees, growing without fail,
and filtered sunlight glowing;
we run, ripping fabric against branches.
Heady scents cascade and fill our thoughts,
intoxicating brilliance overwhelming;
what imagination we had blossomed into infinity,
and that smell always brings eternity closer.
Dark blue berries on needled branched trees,
we smooshed between fingers,
never knowing that smell would be captured,
bottled up for convenient use.
We nestled together, content with time,
untouched by the world;
now I can lay back, close my eyes,
feel the breeze and its lingering goosebumps,
and know that world is but a thought away.
Author notes
Juniper Breeze reminds me of my childhood, when I first smelled juniper, and it remains my favorite scent to this day. It always takes me to my happy place.

What a brilliant piece. Descriptive imagery allowed the vivid picture in my mind. "Heady scents" was absolutely brilliant.
Grats on the trophy.
