Out of reach

There's miles that stretch between us
and oceans that couldn't be harder to cross.
There's so much I wish I could whisper in your ear
to tell you that I'm afraid but I still care.

I'd swim my heart out just to see you tonight,
if I wasn't so afraid that I'd be lost.
I'd spread my wings and come save you
but I'm nothing close to being an angel.

I've never been more fearful than I have lately
I've never felt more helpless, so held back.
Even without wings or fear,
I still wish I could explain to you
All the things it is I feel.
I'd give up all that I have
Just to look in your eyes,
fall in your arms and cry.

I'm reaching into the darkness, the unknown
Hoping to grasp a loving hand that I can rescue.
But you're just out of reach
And I'm all out strength.
