its a very sad thing
for one who cries in the dark
a very lonely girl
carrying a broken heart
a mother's love
will travel far
given the distances
she'll wish on a star
and that's what i did
and one day it came true
my son had searched
til his face turned blue
he finally found me
after waiting for so long
he sweeps in for a moment
then travels along
did i teach him well?
did i make the right choice?
did i make it known,
the sound of my caring voice?
were the words to be treasured
were the moments remembered
saying good bye
was a moment to be treasured
waiting by the bus
texting on the phone
just a reassuring i love you
and you're never alone
life is hard at times
but i hope you find your way
but in your absence i'm left
to cry another day
dedication to jimmy, my son

love the emotion of this poem!
-
a good piece of poetry penned, however, where you say -
a mother's love
will travel far
i think the word 'shall' rather than 'will' should be used, instead - other than that, it is a great write.
see how that works? we can all alter words to be different but saying the same thing in poetry, but 'we' decide as poets which word to use

amazing
I love that you can portray those feelings and questions most can explain.. you have a way with words.. most surely -
Awee....
Such a precious piece from a mother's caring, tender, loving soul.
Thanks for sharing, and I enjoyed reading this beautiful dedication. Shine on sweet soul, peace~

thanks alot. i was recently reunited with my son after 13 yrs. strange situation to be in. i have not seen him since he was almost 7, he is now almost 19. the years when kids want to break loose instead of trying to break in. but a releif has set in, and still is more yet to come. it is just a new beginning of a life.
