As you speak your gentle words
You're muted in my head
My longing to press your lips to mine
I didn't hear a word you said
Your lips form one and then they part
But, they always rejoin together
A metaphor I shall endure
of that we'll be one forever
Your lips, they stop their little dance
Which bring me to your attention
You asked me what you just said
And I had no comprehension
But I said "I couldn't hear you
Due to the thumping of my heart
It punches me in the chest
When our lips are apart"
Then, you spoke of my sweetness
And gave me a little kiss
But, I pulled you for a longer one
I just couldn't resist
Your precious pillow bliss

Holy cow, I seriously love this poem, Kristy. "Do to the thumping of my heart" should say "Due to the thumping of my heart" but the rest seems pretty correct. I like the rhyming in this poem. Great job!
