Tantalizing fruit
of innocence, forgotten ~
once lusciously divine,
now rots
in adolescent
rights of passage.
Virginal naivety,
a young woman's power,
is mocked...
Friends, music,
movies and television
urge youth
to purge themselves
of archaic "purity" dogma.
Satin and lace
now lay discarded
upon society's floor ~
trampled underfoot
by a generation
seeking only to please itself.
Vacant eyes wander,
aimlessly searching for
...something,
anything at all,
that can fill
(if only momentarily)
voids left unfulfilled
in childhood's end...
finding nothing.
