As the light dawns upon your eyes
So full and yet so empty
The meaning of your words lost
As you mumble and speak slowly
Sitting upon the railing watching
As the world falls asleep
My dear Alice won't you join us?
Your world of fantasy can be real
No longer will you sit by yourself
Or have these dark smudges under your eyes
Falling amongst the rocks which whisper
As they grind through the snow
For you hear the smallest sounds
That were never really there
And look too deeply into these sounds
Hold my hand, dearest friend
Follow me through the forest
You seem so tired and so far away
Your eyes adrift amongst a sea of doubt
Do not listen to the world of men
For your mind appears so vivid and free
Your face a mosaic of thoughts
What caused this slow deterioration?
Was it the slow realisation as you lay awake
Or the constant flow of words from others
Who will know how you became you
To this day we shall never know
Alluded by your beautiful imagination
Watching your dark eyes ponder and create
Tell me every word you hear and where they originated
For I wish to understand you like no other
Take me as your friend dear Alice
For there is no other like you
One so beautiful yet repulsive
Author notes
I do hope this is what you were wishing for. I got my prompt and was at a bit of a loss. So, I decided to try and let it flow. Alas, you have the personification of dear Alice.
The person talking about Alice, I have decided, will not be a friend. I myself am not entirely sure, so I shall give you the reader some choices. Do decide upon one and tell me which you think works.
~An imaginary friend
~A split personality trying to merge into one (not something that would happen but alas let my mind run free)
~A psychologist? (don't really like that one)
~A detached version of her spirit
~If she suffered schizophrenia, one of the beings that she can see
I wonder which you shall choose. Feel free to come up with your own, I know it appears like a normal friend but I would like you, the reader, to think of it in a different context.

Your words leave an intriguing footprint and you can only wonder who Alice is talking to and if they have any ill intent in store.
The question remains when you are finished and that leaves a lasting impression.
Thank you for entering and good luck
Shari
