Wings

I am a proud eagle

gracefully soaring along the skyline of your life.
I will descend allowing you to ensnare me.
Hold me for a moment to calm my fast beating heart.
As you gently caress my feathers

whisper kind words to me.
As tokens of your love,

feed me tender morsels of respect and understanding.
Build me a warm nest

padded with tolerance and compromise.
Make it a comforting place

with room to accommodate my wingspan.
A quiet space where peace slumbers beside me.
Please do not try to clip my wings,

I was meant to fly.

    Sweet

I like this Gypsy. Recently I have been thinking about romance and my generation and the the correlation began to peter out. This re-ignites the feeling of romance in my heart and my girl friend who have been away for long is coming back... i need some romance in my life....

Thank you Grandma!! i like this

I like the sense of freedom and openness your poem represents. An eagle with clipped wings serves no purpose. Blessings to you!

    Thanks for sharing this ...

as it serves as a reminder to all that read it. Freedom wears many guises but it is important that everyone feel the dynamics of being loved, unrestricted so that they are then able to reciprocate that love! joy

  • Wow

Your way with words and images put me right in the place where you are.I Iove a poet that can do that. You have a special way with words I can tell already.

  • You perfected the metaphor from beginning to end. I could see and feel your sense of desire within these words. I constantly have dreams of flying and discovered years ago that my ancestry is of the Choctaw nation and my great grandfather was a medicine man in the bird clan. I relate to these words more than you know. Very nicely crafted work here poet.

    Much Love ♥

Ashae! I understand. I am a pilot and I will fly till I die with or without the license. A cage would kill me quicker than a bullet.

Loved this. Thanks for your reads and your thoughtful comments.

    Marvelous!!!

This was a powerfully done piece. I felt such strong pull here; a gentle peacefulness too. You wrote a touching poem that radiated warmth and lends itself to easy acceptance. No, it would certainly be better not to clip those wings meant for flight. Excellently done.
