A Long December (Tuesday Blues)

The dunes stretch across the horizon
Kissing tangerine frosted clouds of twilight
It’s a sight to breakdown in beauty
A great majesty floats above
Where the birds escape to find their spark
But we’ve been trudging the now-cold sand for days
The others have long since collapsed
As stranded we find the hills hell
I’ll follow the Sun until the darkness falls and the water’s gone

It’s so quiet—
After the plane plunged from paradise
The weekend ecstasy has worn
Now I find I’ve been following footsteps and the sound of my own voice
The sand in my shoes beg me to lie and sleep
But soon the moon will shine
And I’ll again have a friend

Please tell me what you think
