I see the Fire Rider has mounted his goblet,
leaving a trail of ice behind,
his day's work done,
horses free till the morrow.
That good messenger from Erebos,
sentinel of his sons’ artful portal
to the realm behind light’s curtain,
approached my weary eyes.
But I, for once in my life,
turned him away, saying this:
“I have seen every color and every shape,
but I know not what lies behind the dark.”
You would not believe me if I told you
of that comely specter, of that wild hybris
of that second, frightful orb
to which I am now addicted.
Selene! Selene!
What sweet, new ravishing is this?

great write

-
very interesting poem. It gets you thinking...great job!
-
I am not fond of this style, particularly when the An don't really explain the background nor the inspiration to the poem

but on the whole you had some vivid imagery here, and an insight into another life so
thanks for entering

"“I have seen every color and every shape,

This is weird.
And I'm not entirely sure that I understand. But I do like it... it intrigues me. And ending with a question, BRILLIANT!
Thank you for the entry and best of luck, in my contest and in the others also.
