Summer

A longing heartbreak
For days passed,
Sweet summer memories,
The weeks that flew so fast.

That night under the stars
In the back of Seans truck.
Fireworks crack and sparkle.
The memories are simply stuck.

Warm air ruffled our hair.
Cool lake water against our bare skin.
It was just the few of us for one sweet summer.
Oblivious to the world of hate, crime, and sin.

Friendship, joy, and love
Seemed to last forever.
Our last summer as a group.
Memories were our endeavor.

But light gave way to darkness,
Warmth to cold, depressing fall.
Only things we have left
Are the memories of us all.....

Last summer was the greatest time of my life. I longed for it more today than I have ever wanted anything in my life. I just wish it was all here again.
