For years I hid beneath the sun,
watching your world go by.
It wasn’t mine, never mine.
But I waited. In silence.
Ages lived and died,
a million days of nothing.
Time grows meaningless here.
If it ever had meaning at all.
Linear steps taken by
an earthbound foot, not mine.
I watched you.
You were reborn.
Time and again I saw your soul
fly from its empty husk
to inhabit another.
You passed from that world
and into mine, but your
new-soul-grown-old couldn’t remain.
My time was past.
So I waited.
And when the world comes down,
torn into nothing by the
weight of ages gone by,
I’ll wait for you.
Author notes
I only write when the spirit of a piece comes over me and it struggles to get out. That means the poems don't always make sense, and sometimes they aren't even poems. Disjointed thoughts trapped in my mind finding escape through fumbling human hands. I don't ask for praise. Just read it and listen.

Beautifully written.

Divine... purely magical. It takes my breath away, and makes me dream of times past. Your author's notes were inspirational as well: "Disjointed thoughts trapped in my mind finding escape through fumbling human hands." Incredible, incredible piece. If someone felt this way about me, I think I would feel like a transient, esoteric, ethereal being... this piece actually almost makes me feel that way anyway. I lose myself in it immediately, and I stay lost even now...
Beautiful.

You move me most when you rhyme, but this was still stirring. It reminded me of a poem I wrote a little while back: http://allpoetry.com/poem/4390495
I hope everything is well for you. I watched "The Duchess" last night and it made me think of you as it had Ralph Fiennes in it.

Quite the evening's entertainment...and quite the man.
He's definitely a favorite actor of mine. Your comments are always appreciated, and maybe I'll work up the urge to rhyme one next time.
