I saw the puff of smoke and saw you
The impatient cigarette, dropped
And I ran to you
The old stinging had been pushed back
Only to arise at your face
We were spinning and I clutched to you
Your black hair was dotted with snow
You had such warmth
And steady feet, you supported me
And the cold didn't matter
I had the camera in my eyes
Pictures of your soft flesh flew into my memory
And I wanted them to stay
The lamp cast so beautiful a shadow
I wanted to keep you forever
The devotion is steadfast
I trust in it like I trust the spring will come
My heart doesn't need you in front of me
To swell at the memory
Of that peaceful, loving smile
