"Jump Start"~January 17,2009

days blend into one large long day...

as my dreams become smaller
and less memorable,
I realize, that by the time
I get through with this,
I will be preparing myself
to make someone else's dream
come alive in animated
splendor...

to walk the dance of conundrum
focusing on others' profit
for the good of the whole
meanwhile forgetting what it
meant, when I said,
"when I grow up, I want to be..."

just what was it,
that I wanted to be anyhow?

Not everyone gets the option of turning their life around, and making their dreams happen. They don't tell you this when you are a child.

(smiling bittersweetly) reading something that I feel
of what I have been, I like the image of coming alive in animated splendor

but the thing that hit me the most is this part

    meanwhile forgetting what it
    meant, when I said,
"when I grow up, I want to be..."

and it was something that never happened
    personally

    thank you for sharing.

This is my argument all the time. If we started teaching kids in school about self worth and respect, taught them about how thoughts are so important for both success and failure, then maybe growing up would be a lot less fearful for many.
If we taught more about the law of attraction and how to achieve whatever we wanted to be, then so much of the turmoil would be saved. It all begins in School. With teacher training changed to include self respect, everything could change.

This poem is powerful. Well written with a message we should all pay attention to. Especially educators. As young people need guidance which stretches far beyond maths and english.

And you are so correct on that. Not just teachers though, Parents would have to be equally held liable in that regard. I think it takes a combined effort between the two, plus some understanding and a decent set of peers, to make a child's dream come alive for them. I'm currently trying to help my daughter learn what it takes to get into college. She is in high school currently, and is seriously looking at where she wants to go and how much it will cost. She has expressed such a strong interest, that I had to give her the 'how-to'. I will not see her pass this opportunity up. Whatever it takes, I will help her.
