Everyone pointing fingers
At the two men holding hands.
"That's the reason that this disease spreads!"
They mumble to one another.
So much money wasted on countless, pointless ventures,
And yet never enough to find a cure.
Two men, quietly holding on to one another,
Finding hope in only each other.
The government and higher society
Always blaming them.
It's always, "It's because they're black," or "because they are gay"
But one looks around
And no one tries and find a way.
Pointing the finger
At anything that seems astray.
They never look in the mirror
And see the true reasoning behind it all.
The lack of money and research
Only exists because of the beliefs
Of those who have money,
And those who have a "higher power"
Their God seems so merciless
While their dollars seem so lost
Because of what they put in the religion
Into their beliefs, and the beliefs of those around them
They blame everyone that doesn't fit their standards
And say this disease spreads only among them and by them.
The conspiracy among them devious and immoral.
So tell, me,
When do they stop pointing finger
And help out the people
Suffering with an illness,
They can't control.

You have described so well how people think. The are so fast to judge instead of walking in the other persons shoes.
You wrote a powerful piece.
Thank you for your entry.
