She has awakened again
breathing evenly
straining to feel him.
Wondering
if his strokes will catch
the gnarl at her nape.
She lies suspended
poised on his palette
of bone and charcoal
as he
slowly annoints her
in palest blush.

beautiful yet powerful
this is a stunning piece of poetry -
Stunningly beautiful! A very passionate description of a painting and of the beauty of the human body. A job well done and a gold trophy well deserved! Congratulations!

This does have an understated simplicity that as Draig Aine says, is "perfection." I find the totality of the painting and your poem so moving - Jessie said, "What are those wires on the ceiling and look how they look like her body, they look like her shoulders and hips and legs."
To think of Helga modeling in secret for fifteen years, to imagine her yearning for the brush strokes, slipping in and out of consciousness about the role she was playing - becoming part of a study that is unique in American art - your poem of palest blush annoints. Well done!

thank you, and wow, what a great observation on Jessies part, what indeed are those things? Thanks for having this contest and giving me a chance to learn more about this amazing artist and locate the prints I knew I had stashed somewhere

That's really sensuous and made me think of the time I posed nude, which wasn't at all like you describe. Your poem goes so well with the painting.
I just have to say as well that the model's bum is splendid and looks just like pear.

-
stunning
speechless just perfect

I would of called it the sleeping cheeky nude model, but alas, the point is moot. coldness and nudity with warmth .
